Air is all around us. It helps us to breathe and remain
alive.
We cannot see air. We can only feel it.
Living things need air
Living things cannot live without air.
We breathe in air day and night.
We cannot live for a few minutes without air.
Air has different names
When air moves very gently, is called a breeze.
Fast-moving air is called wind.
When there are thunder and lightning along with wind or rain,
is called a storm.
Properties of air
Air occupies space
Take a balloon. Blow air into it what happens?
Air fills up the balloon. Air has given the balloon its
shape.
Now, we know that air takes up space.
When the tire of your bicycle becomes flat, what do you do?
You pump air into it.
Air has weight
Weight a balloon with no air in it, then blow air into it
and weigh it again. You will see that balloon with air in it has more weight. Hence, the air has weight.
Air is needed for burning
Air is necessary for burning things.
If there is no air, you would not be able to make fire.
Fast-moving air can move a windmill, a glider/, a sailboat, and
other things.
