Lost cities of the world
A lost city is a settlement that fell into terminal decline
and become extensively or completely uninhabited, with the consequence that the
site’s farmer significance was no longer know to the wider world. The locations
of many lost cities have been forgotten, but some have been rediscovered and
studied extensively by scientists.
In this chapter, we have given the same kind of popular
cities. Let us read and know about them:
Angkor wat was once the largest city in the world and more
than a million people lived there. It is located in Cambodia. The city has an
area of more than 78 square kilometers. It was surrounded by a water-filled
moat. I was originally constructed as a Hindu temple, gradually transforming
into a Buddhist temple.
Inca was a group of South American Indians macho Picchu was a
fortified Inca city on the top of a mountain. It is located in the present day
Peru. It was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international
attention in 1911 by an American historian Hiram Bingham.
Pompeii was once thought to have existed only in legends,
but its site was discovered in the 1870s. it is located in present-day turkey. It
is best known for being the setting of the Trojan war which has been described
in the greek epic cycle and lead.
Mohenjo-Daro is an archaeological site situated in the
province of Sindh, Pakistan. It was one of the world’s earliest major
settlements. It was built in 2600 BCE. It was discovered in 1922 by rakhaldas
Bandyopadhyay.
