Diseases

A disease is a particular abnormal condition, a disorder of structure or function that affects part or all of an organism. The study of disease is called pathology.

Here we are giving some diseases with their causes. Let’s read and know more about them:

1.   1.   Bubonic plague is the best-known manifestation of the bacterial disease plague caused by the bacterium Yersinia. It kills about half of the infected patients in 3-7 days without treatment. It is known as black death’.



2.  2.   A person affected with Hexadectylism has six fingers or six toes on one or both hands and feet.



3.    3. AIDS is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. It reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors.



4.     4. Swine flu is an infection by anyone of the several types of swine influenza viruses. This a strain of the influenza family of viruses that is endemic in swine. It is mainly known as H1N1.



5.    5.  Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction, and broncho-spams. Common symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Asthma is thought to be caused by combinations of genetic and environmental factors.



6.     6. Avian flu refers to influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds. The strains of influenza viruses are adapted to multiply species, though may be preferential towards a particular host.
